Dr. Dean Frazeur, Interim Pastor
Hi. I’m new to the CBC family. Maybe you are new to the area or just starting a search to find a place to grow spiritually. Let me share a little about me and our church family.

I am a newlywed. Carol and I were married in August, 2015. Together, we have 3 unique dogs. (That’s Conan, Carol’s dog, photobombing my picture). In our prior lives, I was Sr. Pastor for 20+ yrs. Before that I was in business management for an equal amount of time. Carol was a High School Business teacher for 35 years. Carol has always lived in Virginia; I got here as soon as I could.

I love being a pastor because it is at the intersection of God and people. To me, living in the right relationship with God and other people is what life is meant to be about. After that there is a lot of great stuff in life worth enjoying. And I do enjoy life.

The best thing in life is God’s love for you. That is where a church family comes in. Life is better when we share it with others. We are people just like you, people with struggles and successes, fears and faith. You don’t have to be perfect.

I know it is difficult to walk into a group of people where you don’t know anyone or just a few. However, now that you know a little bit about us, I hope you take a leap of faith and come by on a Sunday morning as part of your spiritual journey. Chances are I’ll be just inside the door and we can start a conversation.

Grace and Peace,
Marjie Button, Music Director
I joined the Chesterfield Baptist staff in June 2005; however, I’ve been serving God through my gift of music for as long as I can remember. I was playing Preludes and services, as well as singing in my childhood church by the 7th grade. When in 9th grade, another church in my hometown asked me to be their organist and choir director (yes, in the 9th grade!). By the end of high school and into college, I spent my Sunday mornings playing and singing in three different services at three different churches.

I moved to the Richmond area in 1990 and played for a church on the east-end for 15 years before moving to CBC. My favorite part of my job is playing and working with the choir. Choir practice is one of the highlights of my week; the choir members are truly family to me!

I’m blessed to be married to my husband, Shawn. Together, we have 8 children, 5 grandchildren, and a fur-baby, Simon the cat. When not at work, you will find me at family gatherings playing with the grandchildren, gardening, or curled up with a good book.

Susan Brennan, Youth Director
Hi. I am Susan, your Chesterfield Baptist Church Youth Director. I have been on staff since 2014 but have been a church member since 2005 when I moved from Chicagoland to Virginia. Everybody say, “Go Cubs, Go!!!” Working with kids is a true joy. I have always felt that I was called to share the love of Christ with young people. I have worked in the Children and Youth Ministries since I joined CBC. My students inspire me because they are so genuine, unfiltered, open and willing to learn and grow in Christ. They will invite anyone to come and join the fun. Maybe we all need to be that fearless! When asking one of my youth why he comes to youth group, he said, “It just helps me get through the week!” These are the moments that really matter. My prayer today is that you come and join our group. I know you will feel a sense of belonging and joy through fellowship with others.

My beautiful family is a true blessing. I am married to my high school sweetheart. I have actually known Brent since Kindergarten. You should ask me about that. I have two Sophomores this year. My son is at Virginia Tech and my daughter is a in high school. I can’t forget about the baby. Molly is my spoiled rotten Shih Tzu dog. I don’t have a lot of time for hobbies. I stay very busy with my children and my church children.

Please come and join our youth family. I will sign with all the names my kids call me. Feel free to use any listed. I will answer.

Chelsey Kidd, Secretary
I joined the Chesterfield Baptist family in 2013. Through volunteer work with my neighborhood and children’s school, I discovered my gift of administration and love of creating newsletters, websites, and publicity fliers. My favorite part of this job is taking on the challenge of turning the black and white letters on the calendar into inviting, colorful advertisements that get members and visitors excited about the offerings here at CBC that lead them into a deeper relationship with Christ and one another.

I am blessed to be married to my best friend, Larry. Together we have 2 children, and 2 fur-babies, one of which is always in trouble and perpetually lives on probationary status. My children are both immersed in the world of swimming, and I spend my time ferrying them to and from practice. I still love my volunteer work, and am currently concentrating that on swimming, as the Cosby Swim Team Parent Representative and the Vice President of our neighborhood summer swim team.
